Lovers facing opposition from kin commit suicide

Hyderabad: Two individuals, believed to be in a relationship, allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a passing train near Alwal railway station, late on Tuesday night.

Officials say 20-year-old T. Vijay, and Madhavi, 18, both residents of Siddipet in Medak district, ended their lives fearing opposition to their union, from family members. The two were employed as salespersons at a local shopping complex. Their bodies were found on Wednesday morning.

The Government Railway Police, Secunderabad, has claimed that Vijay and Madhavi were in a relationship for the past two months. The cops suspect that the couple was also planning to elope. Sources add that their decision to marry was met with strong opposition from both families as the two belonged to different castes.

On Wednesday morning, Vijay and Madhavi were found dead on the tracks by locals, who soon alerted the police. Officials have booked a case of unnatural death and are investigating. Bags and a motivational book were found at the scene. The bodies have been handed over to the families after a post-mortem.
