Man cheats vehicle owners, arrested

Hyderabad: Cyberabad’s Special Operation Team (West) nabbed a notorious cheat, who had duped many people to the tune of lakhs.

The accused, claiming to be the managing director of a private firm, contacted owners of various vehicles, offering huge rentals to hire their vehicles for his company. To seal the agreement, he asked them to deposit money into his account. Later he withdrew all the money from the account and absconded.

The 43-year-old accused, identified as Dulla Nageswar Rao, is a car driver and a resident of NTR Nagar, Chintal. He is a native of Thummalapalem village of West Godavari district.
According to the police, Rao would note down the contact numbers on buses, cars and trucks plying on roads and contact their owners.

He introduced himself as the MD of a firm and offered good rentals for hiring the vehicles. He asked the vehicle owners to deposit cash in his SBI account to confirm their agreement.

Trusting him, many people had deposited huge amounts into his account without verifying his claims. “He withdrew all the deposited amounts from ATMs. He then stopped responding to phone calls. The victims later realised that they were cheated,” police said.

Some of the victims approached the cops. The accused was arrested and Rs 70,000 in cash, two motorbikes, SIM and ATM cards were seized. During interrogation he confessed that he cheated people in TS and AP.
