Tension rises along ladkah border

New Delhi: Tension built up along the India-China border once again after Indian and Chinese troops engaged in a face-off near Chushul in Ladakh on Tuesday.

Sources said that the Indian and Chinese troops came face to face during patrolling 30-40 km ahead of the Indian post in Chushul. Sources said the face off lasted for 2-3 hours which was followed a banner drill.

The matter was ultimately resolved after intervention by higher-ups , sources said. The face-off began when civilians on both the Indian and Chinese side entered into an altercation.

The Chinese troops soon moved in vehicles following which the Indian Army and ITBP troops also took up positions facing the Chinese troops.

Sources said the area has been witnessing snowfall, which is restraining mobility of troops on foot.

Tension has been brewing in the area due to the construction on both sides, particularly India’s attempts to beef up border infrastructure.
