Kakinada: Illegal oil transport a big issue

KAKINADA: The district administration is now concentrating on curbing the illegal transport of petrol and diesel in the district. The prices of these oil products are lower in Yanam, a Union Territory Enclave of Puducherry, than East Godavari. Some of the District Petrol Bunk managements are dumping the petrol and diesel which is meant for Yanam. They are getting the transport bills in the name of Yanam bunks, but they dump it into their own bunks.

The joint vollector, Mr Mallikarjuna A. warned the Petrol Bunk dealers who are encouraging such type of illegal transportation of petrol and diesel that stringent action would be taken against them and if deemed so, their bunks may also be seized. On Tuesday, he reviewed the issue with civil supplies, vigilance and enforcement, police, excise, HPCL, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and other officials.
