Chennai: Man shares picture with leg on Shiva Linga on social media, held

Chennai: Mamallapuram police has arrested a man who posed for a picture with one leg on Shiva Linga, wearing slippers and posted it on social media recently.
The arrested, Saddam Hussain (35), took the picture at the Shiva Linga placed near Thiru Moorthy Mandapam. After his pictures went viral on social media and activists fumed for hurting their religious sentiments, a member of Hindu Munnani group lodged a formal complaint in the Mamallapuram station.
After the police launched search, Hussain surrendered on Sunday and he is remanded in Chengelpet sub jail. Investigations are on for his accomplice in the picture who stood beside Shiva Linga.
