Hyderabad: Raja Singh faces ‘hate speech’ case

Hyderabad: The Rein Bazaar police issued a notice to Goshamahal BJP legislator, T. Raja Singh, asking him to appear before them in connection with a hate speech case registered against him. The Rein Bazaar police had registered a case under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups) and Section 295 (Injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult religion of other class) of the IPC following "hate speech."

T. Raja Singh had early last month said that he would remove the loudspeakers of the Mecca Masjid if the police tried to interfere in the Sree Ramanavami celebrations.

Following his remarks, some individuals lodged a complaint with the Rein Bazaar police who registered a case. DCP (South), Mr V. Satyanarayana, said that the legislator has been asked to appear before the police within ten days.

"If he fails to appear before the police, a charge sheet will be filed against him and he could be arrested," the official said.
