Centre has disrespected SC verdict on cauvery: Nagma

Puducherry: All India Mahila Congress general secretary Nagma on Thursday charged the Union government with failing to respect the Supreme Court verdict on Cauvery water dispute.

“The Centre has no time to sort the issue of forming the CMB and Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) and failed to respect the Supreme Court verdict,” said Ms Nagma while talking to reporters here.

The Mahila Congress leader alleged that the impending Assembly elections in Karnataka stopped the ruling BJP from constituting CMB.

“Congress party is putting maximum pressure on the Centre to constitute the CMB to protect the interest of the farmers here. Congress would stand with the people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, which is facing the crisis”, she said.
Nagma was attending the three day training programme for the volunteers of Mahila Congress in Puducherry.

On the other hand, DMK continued their protest over CMB where the volunteers dressed in the black held demonstration at different places on Friday also. DMK party men hoisted black flags atop their houses to condemn Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
