Bengaluru: Close on the heels of political parties releasing their manifesto to woo voters, the residents of Mahadevapura brought out their own developmental manifesto titled ‘It’s our Mahadevapura’.

The residents got an undertaking from all the five contesting candidates to deliver when they get elected. They want them to pledge to extend their complete support to show intent, ability to influence for better delivery, engage (be accessible), execute and be the part of BBMP and budget structure.




Earlier during the interaction “Assembly Elections Open Forum – Mahadevapura”, residents said that illegal constructions, encroachment (including of heritage areas), influx of people from neighbouring states and apathy of officials have made the area cry for even basic infrastructure.

Although the city is touted as silicon valley of India, with a massive growth in SEZ (Special Economic Zones), it is still lagging behind in getting adequate civic amenities such as transport, connectivity, roads, drains and garbage management. Crime rates have also increased but very little has been done, said Suresh, a resident.

The residents demand include setting up of ward committees with monthly meeting at all the 8 wards, within 90 days of them coming to power, fencing two public lands in each of the ward in 90 days, functional dry waste collection centres within 12 months and appointment of honest officers in 45 days, among others.

Poll candidates Aravind Limbavali (BJP), A.C. Srinivas (Congress), Sathish K. (JDS), Bhaskar Prasad (AAP) and Ramesh Chander (Swaraj Party) were present.
