Delhi’s Kailash tops VITEEE for B.Tech admission

Vellore/Chennai: Kailash Gupta from Delhi has secured the first rank in the VIT engineering entrance examination this year, which was held during April in 124 select cities across India, besides in Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat and Qatar. The entrance exam was held for admission to the various B.Tech courses offered by VIT at its Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amaravati campuses.
A record 2.12 lakh candidates had registered for the VITEEE-2018. Telangana’s Ananda Ramarao was placed second in the rankings while Odhisha’s Anirudh Panigrahi scored the third slot. Vishal of Tamil Nadu was placed at rank nine, according to a VIT release, which said admissions would be “only on merit based on the marks in VITEEE”.
Counselling for candidates with ranks up to 8000 would be held on May 9, for ranks 8001-14000 on May 10 and for ranks 14001-20000 on May 11. The counselling would be held simultaneously at all the four VIT campuses.
Under the G V School Development Programme, all the Central and State board toppers would be given 100 per cent fee waiver for all the four years, the VIT release said, adding that VITEEE rank holders up to 50 would get 75 per cent tuition fee waiver, ranks 51-100 would get 50 per cent waiver and ranks 101-1000 would be given 25 per cent waiver.
SRM entrance test results declared
The results of the SRM Joint Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) for admission to B.Tech degree programmes, held from April 16 to 30 across the country, were declared on May 1.
Students from seven states were featured in the top 10 all India ranks in the SRM entrance test. Candidates can download their rank card, counseling call letter by logging in to their dashboard.
Of 1,72,825 candidates 76,000 aspirants are invited for counseling. Counselling will begin on May 7 for B. Tech seats at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur (Chennai), SRM Haryana, Sonepat and SRM AP, Amaravati. Counseling for admission has been scheduled for SRM University — Haryana, SRM University — AP, Amaravati from May 7 to 10 May at their respective campuses. SRM Institute of Science & Technology has scheduled counseling from May 11 to 20 at its NCR campus and Kattankulathur campus.
“We invite selected candidates to benefit from our Interdisciplinary experiential active learning (IDEAL), a pedagogy that is primarily practice-oriented and multidisciplinary in nature,” says Dr. P Sathyanarayanan, President, SRM.
