Bengaluru: Rs 85 lakh cash seized in Nelamangala

Bengaluru: In a joint operation, IT, EC and police officials intercepted an SUV after chasing it for a few kilometres and confiscated `85 lakh unaccounted cash near the JAS toll plaza in Nelamangala on the city outskirts on Tuesday morning.
Police said the cash was being transported in the SUV to Shivamogga from Bengaluru. The police have arrested the driver and are questioning him.
The IT and EC officials received a tip-off on cash being ferried in Mahindra Xylo to Shivamogga. Upon identifying the location of the vehicle, the IT and EC sleuths chased it.
The driver of the SUV, who sensed that he was being followed, accelerated his vehicle. The IT and EC officials along with the help of local police alerted their colleagues deployed at a check post near JAS toll plaza. As the SUV crossed the toll plaza, it was intercepted.
