PM Narendra Modi: Congress failed to implement crop insurance

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi came down heavily on the Siddaramaiah led Congress government blaming it for failing to implement the crop insurance scheme of the Central government.
Interacting with BJP Kisan Morcha workers here on Wednesday through the ‘Narendra Modi app,’ Mr Modi criticized the Congress government for being indifferent to farmers and not giving them any assistance. He said he has been receiving complaints from Karnataka regarding non-implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, however one of his party MPs had done a great job with the help of Kisan Morcha workers.
The state government on the other hand, had not bothered to transfer the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to farmers, Mr Modi said during the interaction.
Karnataka has witnessed consecutive droughts for three years, which caused huge crop loss and the Centre has rushed to the help of distressed farmers, he said while asking Kisan Morcha workers to reach out to these farmers to convince them to vote for the BJP.
"You have to give them the confidence that there should now be a government that is sensitive about them, that understands their problems. The welfare of farmers is our primary responsibility." Mr Modi said.
The PM started his interaction quoting Rashtra Kavi Kuvempu’s poem on farmers. "Helping and serving farmers is an opportunity that comes with good fortune, but the Karnataka government's game is only to do politics in the name of farmers, instigate them, and spread false information," Mr Modi said and advised Kisan Morcha workers to combat the Congress's "misinformation" campaign.
Calling the BJP’s poll mascot B.S. Yeddyurappa a "farmer leader", Mr Modi said Yeddyurappa’s vast experience and commitment to the farming community will strengthen the Centre's mission to give a fresh impetus to agriculture. He asked Kisan Morcha workers to convince farmers that their income will be doubled by 2022.
Besides giving a thrust to the Green and White Revolution (agriculture and dairy farming), the Centre has been working on Blue Revolution (fish farming), Sweet Revolution (bee keeping), Solar and Organic Farming revolution to help raise farm income. Mr Modi will interact with Mahila Morcha, SC/ST Morcha and Yuva Morcha workers of the BJP through his app next week.
