Salem: A medical college girl aspirant’s ambition was shattered when she was barred from taking the Neet examination in Salem district due to confusion in allocating her a centre on Sunday.

Jeevitha, hailing from Rasipuram in Namakkal district was allotted a private college on Kondalampatty bypass road in Salem, but was allotted two hall tickets. When she came to the exam hall with two admission cards, the supervising officials checked her hall tickets and refused her entry.





The exam supervisors examined her hall tickets and found that the random number in her hall ticket did not match those in their list. They told
her that the random number in her admission card matched the list of
an exam centre in Kollam in Kerala. After a quarrel, family members of the girl and other parents attempted to block the Salem-Namakkal road. Police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the agitated parents. A similarly confusion prevailed at a centre in Salem where students who opted for Tamil, were issued question papers in Hindi.

The confusion led to a delay of several hours as around 195 students wrote their exam later from 1pm to 4 pm after receiving the question papers in Tamil.

As many as 17,460 students were allotted 26 centres in Salem district for the NEET examination on Sunday.
