THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city police has heightened vigil as social media went abuzz with hate comments flung at each other by CPM-RSS workers in capital over the murder of their workers at Mahe on Monday. The district leaders of CPM including Anvaoor Nagappan, V Sivankutty and Kadakampally Surendran have joined the state leadership in online protest over the murder of their worker Babu Kannipoyil. However, as the posts got shared massively, BJP workers swore revenge for the murder of their worker UC Shanej.
The activists of both parties threatened retaliations highlighting the picture of deceased on social media. “We have intensified patrol at hotspots (of CPM-BJP clashes) in the city. No flare up has been reported in the city. We have been tearing down inflammatory poster campaigns that appeared at various places in the city recently,” said City Police Commissioner P Prakash. At the capital, the poster wars have often lead to the fights and hackings in the capital at locations like Sreevaraham, Nemom, Fort and Sreekariyam.
RSS district Seva Pramukh was hacked at Fort recently. Vanchiyoor Area Committee Secretary LS Saju was hacked at Sreekariyam in retaliation for the death of RSS Bastikaryavah Rajesh at Edavakkodu. “We generally have informers in the social media groups run by cadres of various political parties. So we do monitor inflammatory posts and keep tab of dangerous individuals,” a special branch official said.
