Bengaluru: The Doddaballapura police have solved a sensational murder case and arrested a rowdy three days after he killed a 21-year-old man, severed his head and threw it at an empty site to hide the identity of the deceased.

The accused, Pavan alias Puli (21), a resident of Doddaballapura town, killed Upendra alias Uppi, whom he suspected of bad mouthing about him to his friends.

Bengaluru district SP Bheema Shankar S. Guled said that on May 29, Ashok and his men stopped Pavan and his friend Dasa, who were on a bike and took away the two-wheeler. When Pavan sent Dasa and Gowda to Ashok to collect the bike, they were badly beaten up.

An angry Pavan, who suspected Upendra’s involvement, called him for a meeting near Nagarakere. When Upendra arrived, Pavan and his friends thrashed him and removed all his clothes. Pavan then hacked Upendra with a machete, cut off his head and put it in a sack. While he left Upendra’s naked body at the same spot, he carried the severed head and dumped it at an empty site in Chickpet, near the spot of crime.

To mislead the police, Pavan filed a police complaint saying Upendra and his friends were trying to murder him. On Friday, one Mohammed Yusuf complained to the police that he found a severed head at the empty site next to his house.?

Upendra’s father Umashankar, who heard that the police had found a head, sought to see it, saying his son was missing for two days. After seeing the photograph, Umashankar confirmed that it was his son’s head.

When the police questioned Upendra’s friends, they said that they had a tiff with Pavan’s men on May 29 and Upendra was missing since then. The police detained Pavan and subjected him to interrogation, when he confessed to killing Upendra. The police have detained Pavan’s friends and are interrogating them to establish their involvement in the murder.
