Bengaluru: An activist has been arrested by the D.J. Halli police for instigating an attack on Dinesh Amin Mattu, journalist and former media advisor to former chief minister Siddaramaiah.

The accused, identified as B.R. Bhaskar Prasad, a resident of Nelamangala, was arrested based on a complaint filed by Mattu on Friday accusing him of posting baseless allegation against him on Facebook.





The post was allegedly intimidating in nature and instigating pro-Hindu activists to carry out an attack on the complainant. Based on Mattu’s complaint, the police had registered an FIR against Prasad.

High drama prevailed at Prasad’s house in Nelamangala when the police went to arrest him at around 2 am on Wednesday.

As the cops knocked at his door, Prasad did not open the door until 6 am when he complained of chest pain and was shifted to Jayadeva Hospital.

He then called up his advocate to the hospital. When Prasad was discharged at around 2 pm, the police took him into their custody.

Prasad has been booked under sections 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 118 (concealing design to commit an offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
