Hyderabad: A case was registered against BJP legislator T. Raja Singh on Monday for hurting religious sentiments. The BJP legislator from Goshamahal constituency in a video message had said that he would not attend iftar parties hosted by Muslims nor host one. He said that holding iftar parties amounted to “begging for votes”.

“These days many TRS legislators are busy hosting Iftar parties, wearing skull caps and taking selfies. They think if they have to do vote bank politics, they will have to think of “sabka saath, sabha vikas” (together with all, development for all).





“This is their thinking. Those who sit with them (attending Iftar) are “vote ke bhikhari” (beggars for vote). My thinking is different,” he said. Mr Singh said his religion, Hinduism, taught giving respect to everyone.

He further said that because a few secularist Hindus, the Mughals and the British ruled the country. He blamed a "green book" for promoting unrest and terrorism in the country. “This green book is responsible for the spread of terrorism in India and it should be banned. I will fight to get it banned,” he said. “We hae registered a case under the IPC 153Afollowing a complaint,” said DCP, South, V. Satyanarayana.
