Hyderabad: As many as 46 TRS MLAs out of the total 90 are in the “danger zone”, according to surveys on the winning prospects of candidates in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

It won two seats held by the Congress in by-elections later, taking its total strength to 65. Subsequently, 25 MLAs from the TD, Congress, YSR Congress, BSP and the CPI defected to the TRS boosting its numbers to 90.





With elections nearing, the TRS chief has engaged the services of four different agencies at different times to carry out surveys that would indicate the mood and preference of voters and the prospects of the sitting MLAs.

The survey found that 46 MLAs are in the “danger zone” and must take immediate corrective measures if they are to retain their seats in 2019. Interestingly, four ministers in the danger zone are from South Telangana districts while one is from a North Telangana district.

TRS sources said the Chief Minister asked these four ministers to submit a report on what measures they would take to better their performance in the next three months, based on which their performance will be evaluated later to decide their fate.

The party’s top leaders were asked to deal with non-performers and ensure that they come up to scratch in the next three months. In undivided Ranga Reddy district, nine sitting MLAs are in the danger zone, followed by Nalgonda (7), Mahabubnagar (6), Karimnagar (5), Adilabad (4), Warangal (4), Medak (3), Kha-mmam (3). Nizamabad (3) and Hyderabad (2).
