New Delhi: A month ahead of US President Barack Obama’s visit to India, the security establishment is on its toes with an Intelligence Bureau warning that Laskhar-e-Tayyaba may target two “unspecified hotels in the national capital and the Delhi-Agra highway”.

Officials are also alive to the possibility that “hotel” and “highway” may be code words for other targets. As a result, security at all vital installations, sensitive locations and public places with high footfalls is being intensified.

The Union home ministry issued a separate advisory on Wednesday warning all states to be watchful following the Peshawar school attack in Pakistan and the Sydney siege.

The MHA referred to the “heightened possibility” of an attack ahead of Mr Obama’s visit. Home minister Rajnath Singh said all states were told to ensure “target hardening” of vulnerable places and installations, including the Railways and schools.
