Only DMK can cause its own split, not BJP: Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan

Chennai: The opposition DMK does not require any external force for causing a split in the party, as the faction within it alone can bring its own downfall, BJP state president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has said while lashing out the DMK for accusing the BJP of attempting to engineer a divide in the Dravidian major.

Taking strong exception to DMK deputy general secretary Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan's remark that the BJP is attempting to divide the DMK, Dr. Tamilisai said there was no need and reason for her party to indulge in such acts. Re-futing the charge, the BJP leader said the allegation was “baseless.”

While speaking at the DMK's executive meeting here on Tuesday, Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan accused the BJP of trying to divide the party in the wake of its chief M Karunanidhi's death and stressed on unity among the ranks. Her charge came a day after Karunanidhi's estranged son and former union minister M.K. Alagiri claimed that Karunanidhi’s loyalists were with him and accused his brother and DMK working president M.K. Stalin of blocking his return to the party.

“I strongly condemn this. There is no need and no reason for dividing the DMK. They blame the BJP for anything, whether it be some problem in the AIADMK or even in the Congress," Dr Tamilisai said on Wednesday.
