Vizag : Fire Accident Destroys Kanya-Sri Kanya Theaters

A massive fire gutted the decades-old Kanya-Sri Kanya theaters in the prime Gajuwaka area in Visakhapatnam. The mishap occurred at around 6 am on Monday morning, according to one of the staff members who was the key witness to the accident.

Apparently, a sweeper lady first noticed smoke coming out the top floor of the 2-screen theater. Before she could alert the management, a huge fire engulfed the entire premises, entirely destroying both the screens within minutes. The theaters had a capacity to host 250 audiences per screening.

Six fire tenders took nearly 2 hours to bring the fire under control. Preliminary enquiry revealed that a short circuit in one of the cell towers placed on the top of the building might have caused the fire. Initial estimates reveal that nearly 3 crore rupees of loss has been caused due to the fire. A high-level inquiry is underway to find out the exact cause behind the fire.
