Maoists gunned down Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Former MLA Soma on September 23rd in the Visakha Agency. Close to 50 Naxals including 30-odd women had taken part in the operation.





MLA Kidari and Ex-MLA Soma were on their way to villages for Grama Darshini programme. All of a sudden, Naxals surrounded the two cars in which they had been travelling and asked them to step down. MLA Kidari commented, 'Chacham Ra Inka…Maoists Laku Dorikesam' before stepping out of the vehicle. He appealed Naxals not to harm any of his men while promising to cooperate with them. Maoists asked the gunmen to handover their arms and abide by their orders. Later, MLA and Ex-MLA were asked few questions about illegal Quarrying, Bauxite Mining and How much was paid for shifting from YCP to TDP.

Media got hold of the visuals of Maoists surrounding the vehicles of Kidari and Soma. Few of them could be seen running away after killing the public representatives. Based on the video footage and several photographs, Cops identified three Naxals who took part in the assassination plot. Combing has been continuing in the agency for making naxals pay the price for targeting Lawmakers.
