ADILABAD: Muslim minority organisations are divided over supporting political parties. Muslims are confused over choosing the right political party to protect their interests and rights and their confusion has increased as elections near.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and the Jamat-e-Islami-Hind (JIH) are supporting the Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) and its candidate Jogu Ramanna contesting from Adilabad, while the Jamaitul-Ulma-e-Hind (JUH) is supporting the Congress and its contesting candidate Gandrath Sujatha from Adilabad. These organisations have openly expressed their support for these two parties.





AIMIM president, Asaduddin Owaisi, has extended his support to the TRS and its contesting candidates. Caretaker Chief Minister Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been openly stating in his speeches that the AIMIM and the TRS will jointly win 17 MP seats in the state and mount pressure on the Central government to achieve 12 per cent reservations for the minorities. AIMIM district leader, Farooq Ahmed, participated in the election campaigns of the TRS candidates in Thatiguda and Kurshidnagar colonies in Adilabad town. Caretaker minister and TRS contesting candidate, Jogu Ramanna, conducted his election campaign going round the colonies sitting on a horse, accompanied by AIMIM leaders and activists.

Even the leaders of the JIH and JUH have held press conferences and extended their support to the TRS and the Congress respectively. JIH leaders say the TRS has done wonderful work for minorities education and nearly 50,000 minority children are studying in residential schools in the state. They also praise the Shadi Mubarak scheme as it benefits poor families.

JUH leaders say only the Congress party can protect the interests of the minorities and, being a secular party, it can fight against the communal forces in the country. They say it is high time to strengthen the hands of the Congress party which opposed the Triple Talaq bill introduced by the BJP and protected the interests of the minorities.
