Oz to help with Andhra Pradesh capital, Chandrababu Naidu asks business to invest heavily

New Delhi: Hard-selling Andhra Pradesh for the opportunities that it provides to investors, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asked Australian businessmen to invest heavily in the new state and the new capital city.

Addressing the Australia-India Business Summit, the CM wooed Australian investors by flaunting his “good relationship” with the BJP government at the Centre and his experience in developing Hyderabad as one of the global destinations for investments in IT sector.

“I have a grand vision for AP that includes four campaigns, five grids and seven missions,” Mr Naidu said.

Elaborating on his “Vision 2020” for the new state, the CM outlined that his government’s focus would be on agriculture, health, education and social empowerment.

Australia’s high commissioner to India Patrick Suckling said the relationship between Australia and AP has been growing rapidly, and there is a great opportunity to deepen ties further.

Sean Kelly, Australia’s consul-general to South India, said discussions focused on how Australia can assist AP as it develops its new capital city at Vijayawada.

Mr Naidu also with Australia’s trade and investment minister Andrew Robb and discussed new opportunities to boost trade.
