New Delhi: Beleaguered Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has started reaching out to his political bosses. Mr Tharoor, who is expected to be interrogated by the Delhi police shortly, met Mr Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Mr Tharoor had sought an appointment with Mr Patel a couple of days back. Sources said it was unlikely that Mr Tharoor would get an appointment with Mrs Gandhi or party vice-president Rahul Gandhi at this juncture.

On Monday, Delhi police chief B.S. Bassi said the questioning of Mr Tharoor in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar is “possible in the next few days if the Special Investigation Team (SIT) wants to”.

Though the Congress is tight-lipped about the meeting between Mr Tharoor and Mr Patel, sources said the issue of the Sunanda murder case dominated the discussion.
