Hyderabad: A divorced woman was killed by parents and younger brother for asking for a share in property. After killing the woman, K. Shiva Nandini, 38, her family members poured toilet cleaning acid on the body to erase their fingerprints. They later lodged a complaint with the police saying Nandini was missing.

After a thorough investigation, the police arrested Nandini’s brother K. Siddarth, 31, an assistant executive engineer with the government, K. Maisaiah, 73, her father and their mother Nirmala, 60, the police said.




Nandini’s 12-year-old son, who studies Class VII in a school in Malakpet, has been sent to the house of her paternal grandparents.

Police said Nandini got married in 2004 and divorced her husband in 2017 due to personal issues. She moved in to her maternal house in East Prasanthnagar, Moosarambagh, along with her son. On Wednesday evening, Maisaiah lodged a complaint with the Malakpet police stating that Nandini left home on Monday morning and had not returned. “Nandini left saying she was going out. I thought she might have gone to a temple, but she did not return, even after two days,” said Maisaiah in his complaint.

The police registered a missing woman case and started investigating.

After analysing CCTV footage, they found that Nandini had not left home at the time mentioned by her father.

This made the police suspect that something was amiss.

“On thorough investigation, we found that Nandini’s parents and brother are involved in her death. Nandini’s younger brother Siddarth, who works as an assistant executive engineer in the irrigation department at Wanaparty, was questioned and he confessed,” said Malakpet inspector K.V. Subba Rao.

“Nandini was reportedly asking her parents to give her an open plot they own at Vanasthalipuram and for some money so that she could live on her own. There were disputes over this between the family members,” the inspector said.

“Maisaiah, Nirmala and Siddarth killed Nandini by throttling her in the house and poured toilet cleaning acid on the body to destroy evidence and dumped the body in the washroom,” inspector Subba Rao said.

The inspector said that based on their confession, the case was altered to IPC Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and arrested Siddarth and Nirmala.
