Coronavirus: Benefit Zero With Plasma Therapy!
Posted May 17th, 2021, 09:37 AM IST

Plasma therapy has come to the fore in the new Corona etc. It has been widely reported that the plasma of those who have been infected with the virus can protect other patients. Plasma therapy was considered promising at a time when little was known about the corona. Prabhupada also claimed that the procedure was giving good results in the treatment of Kovid?, and that its prominence had increased significantly with the publicity given by the plasma donation.
However, several recent high-level studies have shown that plasma therapy is useless in the treatment of Kovid. In addition, plasma therapy has been implicated in the development of new mutations in the corona virus, increasing the potential of the virus. In this context, the Medical Research Council of India (ICMR) has decided to remove plasma therapy from the protocol for Kovid treatments in our country.
A
recent study by the UK medical journal Lancet found that plasma therapy did not have the expected benefit and did not improve the patient's health status. The study was conducted in Britain from May 28 last year to January 25 this year, dividing 11,558 patients into 2 categories. Of the 5,795 people who received plasma therapy, 1,399 (24 percent) died. Of the 5,763 people who received other general treatment, 1,408 (24 percent) died. There is no big difference between plasma and general therapies, even in the case of medical ventilation.
An earlier ICMR-Placid study in our country also found that plasma trials in Argentina did not have a significant benefit for patients with plasma therapy. Members at the ICMR National Task Force meeting last Friday expressed a similar view. ICMR decided to eliminate plasma therapy from corona treatments. Guidelines for hospitals will be released soon.
Plasma 'First' Choice '
Antibodies to any disease are formed in the blood of those who have recovered from that disease. Giving these antibodies in the blood plasma to a patient suffering from the same disease is called plasma therapy. As soon as the plasma is injected into the patient, the antibodies already present in it begin to fight the virus.
Plasma therapy has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of many drug-resistant diseases in the past. It was in this context that plasma therapy was started in the treatment of Kovid. It was used extensively with the intention of finding any small clue to counter Kovid.
What caused the new mutants?
Eighteen medical professionals and scientists from across the country recently wrote a letter to ICMR claiming that plasma therapy was not working in Kovid treatment. They said that plasma therapy was also the reason for the boom of new type of corona variants in India. Plasma therapy is being given to patients admitted to the ICU and those with weakened immune systems.
Giving plasma directly to patients in the ICU without even doing blood tests is said to be fatal. He also said that many problems are arising due to the unauthorized use of this therapy. The plasma treatment item was urgently reviewed and asked to be discontinued. ICMR? has decided to discontinue plasma therapy in the wake of recent studies and a recent expert letter.
Need to be aware of
the common symptoms of Corona or plasma therapy may be the use of an oxygen .., ventileta rpai who is of no use when there is a critical care. Plasma therapy has also been used in the treatment of Ebola in the past. When the corona began to spread .. Plasma therapy trials were conducted in 39 institutes across the country last year .. The results were not so satisfactory. Now there are opinions that plasma therapy is the reason for the increase in double variants in the second way. The virus has transformed and become more powerful.
ICMR believes that plasma therapy should be excluded from the treatment protocol when the actual results are not satisfactory. We have not received the guidelines yet. Those who have already taken plasma therapy, those who have processing .. We will treat according to their conditions. Remindsivir or plasma therapy are secondary therapies. Oxygen and steroids are preferred. 90 percent of people will fully recover if they keep their oxygen level low and follow the doctor's instructions.
