CM Jagan gets Telangana HC relief in poll-related case

In a relief to AP Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy, the Telangana High Court on Tuesday exempted him from appearance before a special court here in a poll-related case filed at Huzurnagar during the 2014 general elections
Justice Ujjal Bhuyan allowed Jagan’s plea that he be exempted from appearance during the hearing of the criminal cases against MLAs and MPs in Hyderabad till 26 June, 2022.
Jagan Reddy along with his followers took out a road show in Nalgonda district during the 2014 polls without obtaining prior permission from the police and in violation of the Election code. A case was registered against Jagan and others in Huzurnagar police station under Sec 243, 188 of IPC and also under the Police Act. A charge-sheet was filed, which the CM now seeks to quash.
Recently, the special court trying criminal cases against MLAs and MPs in Hyderabad issued notices to the petitioner directing him to appear before the court. This was also brought to the notice of the high court on Tuesday, when it said the CM’s appearance before it was not necessary.
