Minister for Industries and IT Gudivada Amarnath and Bheemili MLA and party’s district president Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao in a joint conference said a round-table conference would be held in Visakhapatnam on September 25 to seek the opinion of the stakeholders and intellectual on the necessity of decentralisation and making Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital.

“The meeting will not be political though it is convened by us. We are inviting all the people who are vouching for development of north coastal Andhra Pradesh,’’ Amarnath said.

He said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was aiming at uniform development of all regions of the state and hence proposed decentralisation making three capitals. But it was unfortunate that Opposition leader and TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu was opposing it and organising padayatra by select realtors to create regional flares ups.


He said the round-table meeting would throw light on how the state would develop after the decentralisation process was through.

Reacting to comments made by Rajysa Sabha member C.M. Ramesh, the minister reminded that the BJP in its Rayalaseema declaration sought High Court at Kurnool.

Former minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said some parties were politicising the issue of decentralisation to serve the interests of real estate developers. Local MLAs and MLCs were present at the press conference.
