Hoardings welcoming Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to AP and hailing his national party, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti, have been erected in Vijayawada and other parts of the state. Rao is scheduled to visit Vijayawada on October 18 and hold a meeting that would act as the launch-pad for the party in AP.

Rao would be in Vijayawada to in the poll ally CPI’s 24th national meet.

Apart from the pictures of Rao and the party’s working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao, the hoardings sported "Jai Ho KCR" slogans. The huge hoardings set up by the TRS (now BRS) state secretary and TRS Secundrabad Parliament constituency incharge Bandi Ramesh aroused considerable curiosity among the people.


The BRS hoardings were erected on Wednesday at the busy Kanaka Durga Varadhi and several places on the Bandar Road, but those at the Varadhi disappeared on Thursday. Similar hoardings came up in a few places in Visakhapatnam and adjacent districts, hailing the Telangana CM, Rama Rao and BRS.

According to party sources, Ramesh belongs to Bhatlapenumarru in Krishna district but settled down in Hyderabad. A party hopper, he started with the Praja Rajyam, joined the Telugu Desam and then the TRS. Ramesh is interested in contesting the election from AP, it is rumoured.

Local leader Konijeti Adinarayana, who is also president of AP-TRS, performed special poojas by breaking coconuts at the Durga temple to welcome the BRS.

Adinarayana said Chandrashekar Rao has many supporters in AP and various sections of society were seeking welfare schemes for them in AP on par with Telangana. Besides this, some leaders of various parties are showing an interest in joining BRS, he claimed.

Adinarayana said Chandrashekar Rao during his visit to Vijayawada would hold a meeting of his party leaders and supporters in AP and take the first step for the functioning of the BRS in this state.

He said there were differences between AP and TS over several issues. “Those could be resolved through discussions.”
