Uber rape case: Tout who forged character certificate for accused driver arrested

New Delhi: A tout, who had allegedly assisted the Uber rape accused Shiv Kumar Yadav in procuring fake character certificate, has been arrested.

Yadav got All India Tourist permit after submitting the certificate to the State Transport Authority in Burari.

The accused, identified as Javneet Singh, was arrested on Thursday.

He had taken Rs 2,000 from Yadav and had forged the character certificate on the seal of the Delhi Police and got it attested from a Notary, police said.

32-year-old Yadav, accused of raping a passenger on December 5, had told the police that he had procured the fake character certificate issued in the name of an Additional DCP of Delhi Police through an agent of a finance company.

Police had detained the agent, Sumit Sharma, who told police that he had procured it from another person.

The police had taken two-day police remand of Yadav on Thursday.
