Telangana: Andhra Pradesh has no control on Eamcet

Hyderabad: The AP government has once again proclaimed authority over Eamcet saying the AP State Council of Higher Education is the competent authority.
But the Telangana government has again refuted it saying that the AP can’t conduct Eamcet because the question paper setting universities in TS are under the control of the TS government.
The TS government has asked Andhra Bank, which is the APSCHE’s banker, to freeze its assets like many other departments did following the labour department funds transfer fiasco.
AP HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who met Governor E.S.L. Narsimhan on Monday, told the Governor that Andhra Bank had refused to heed to the TS government’s request since it considered APSCHE to be the competent authority till June 2, 2015.
Adding, that the bank had sought legal opinion from its counsel, who reported that the APSCHE is the competent authority as per the AP Reorganisation Act.
However, TS government isn’t convinced. “They are not party to the Eamcet issue, therefore, we are not bothered by what they say. We have announced our dates and we will conduct Eamcet,” said TSCHE chairman Prof T. Papi Reddy.
“Even if they were allowed to conduct Eamcet and other exams, how can they do it? They are saying APSCHE is the only competent authority. If that is true, they have to conduct all the eight CETs.
And at least a few of those will have to be given to universities in TS But universities here will follow TS government orders and not AP government orders,” a senior TS official.
