‘Sunanda Pushkar wanted to speak about IPL,’ says journalist Nalini Singh

New Delhi: A special investigation team ( SIT) of the Delhi Police on Friday questioned senior journalist Nalini Singh in connection with the murder case of former union minister Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar.

According to reports, Singh was questioned for about 80 minutes. After her first meeting with the police, she said, “Police rather than questioning me asked me to recount whatever I had to share.”

“She (Sunanda) called me on the day she died, so I was asked, what did she speak about and what was her tone. Sunanda told me she wanted to speak about the IPL, and that she has taken all the blame on herself,” Singh said.

Earlier, Delhi Police Chief BS Bassi said that reporters, who were phoned by Sunanda Pushkar two days before she died would be questioned.

Pushkar, the wife of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, was found dead in a luxury hotel a year ago.

Bassi has said that the police inquiry will look at "the IPL angle". In 2010, Tharoor was forced to resign as union minister after allegations that Sunanda had been gifted equity worth Rs 70 crores in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise that he had lobbied for in his home state of Kerala.
