Heart flown from Bengaluru to Chennai in less than 4 hours for transplant

Bengaluru: Doctors in Bengaluru and Chennai collaborated for a very humanitarian cause. The heart of a baby who died in a Bengaluru hospital on Friday was transported to Chennai for transplantation.

The parents of the baby who died in Bengaluru had broken down, but decided that they would want to help another child, so that another life was not lost.

The heart was being flown on a special aeroplane to fly to Chennai, where it is scheduled to be transplanted into a young child. The journey from Bengaluru to Chennai was completed in less than 4 hours.

Police in Bengaluru had assigned a team of 25 people, to ensure the ambulance carrying the heart from the hospital to the airport did not get stuck in traffic.

From the airport an air ambulance lifted the heart for the journey to Chennai.

The transplant is scheduled to be done at the Fortis hospital in Chennai.

From the Chennai airport to the hospital, police have made arrangements so that the heart doesn’t get stuck in traffic.
