Traffic restriction, heavy security in Delhi for Beating Retreat ceremony

New Delhi: Vijay Chowk, Rajpath and all roads leading to them will remain closed for Beating Retreat Ceremony at Vijay Chowk and illumination of Rashtrapati Bhavan, North Block, South Block, Parliament House and India Gate in Delhi tomorrow evening.

According to a traffic advisory issued by Delhi Police, roads will remain closed from 4 pm to 9:30 pm to facilitate the vehicles of invitees and spectators and to avoid traffic congestion on roads around the venue of the function.

"Delhi Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements for Beating Retreat Ceremony at Vijay Chowk and illumination of Rashtrapati Bhavan, North Block, South Block, Parliament House and India Gate, as part of the Republic Day Celebrations," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla.

During the event, Vijay Chowk will remain totally closed for general traffic while vehicular movement will not be allowed on Rafi Marg between Sunehri Masjid and Krishi Bhawan.

Raisina Road will be shut from Krishi Bhawan to Vijay Chowk. Rajpath between Vijay Chowk and 'C-Hexagon' will remain open only for pedestrians.

Parking will be available for those coming to see illumination behind the water channels between Rafi Marg and 'C-Hexagon'.

"Motorists and general public are advised to avoid the roads and routes as mentioned," said Mr Shukla.
