Chennai: Co-optex too has gone the e-commerce way. Handloom minister Gokula Indira, who launched its website on Monday, said, “This initiative is for the uplift of the 2,54,000 weavers who are a part of Co-optex. Hope the addition of the online store boosts sales for them this festival season.” Customers, who can choose from 300 silk and cotton saris displayed on the site, will have the goods delivered within 24 hours if they are from Tamil Nadu and up to 72 hours if outside the state.

They can contact the customer care number to report damaged goods or a complaint and make an exchange, paying for delivery alone. Payment is by credit or debit card only.
A new range of Jaya Karthika cotton sarees with block prints, ranging in price from Rs 650 to Rs1,200, was released at the launch event. Silk shirts are also available at the Co-optex stores. Gift coupons can be availed of at 20 stores in different cities. Vasantha Rajagopalan, a customer from Mumbai, said that shopping at Co-optex benefited the handloom industry while e-shopping would now give her easy access to the stores.
